While this is an amazing story, why wouldn’t they do this for just a random deserving kid? Even if he wasn’t dying? I’m not trying to be insensitive, I’m just wondering why we (as a society) only care about children when they’re dying.

why do you even think of that when you read this? When I finished looking at this I was just thinking “this is awesome”.

Regular kids have their entire lives to do cool shit. Dying kids don’t.

Well, i think you’ve definitely got a point. This would enrich the lives of those who go on to live it, more so than the ones who won’t carry on the incredible moral lessons learned.

    • Sir says:

Im with you on this one. I feel incredibly sorry for the kid, but things like this seem to happen only to kids who are sick and dying. Other kids die all the time from other various things, so why not make them happy while they’re still here? BATMAN FOR EVERYONE!

@Paul To answer your question as simply as possible, because he will not live a full life and experience all the cool ‘Batman-like’ awesome things we, who live full lives, will experience. For example, like driving a fast car, having sex with a chick, or having his own adventures because his life will be cute short. Get a brain as well as a heart because your question shows that you lack both.

    • Derk says:

Why only for dying kids? Well, an estimate last year projected some 2 billion children on earth. This took a whole day. So, if they did this every day, it would take roughly 5,479,452 years to do this for every child at this moment. Most would die of old age before their day as Batman came, then you have to adjust for all new births…. you see the problem here?

You’re assuming that you could only do it one kid at a time. There is more than one police department in the world that could do this. Your logic is pretty terrible.

    • Anonymous says:

Because, you Idiot, any other random kid has a chance to do whatever the fuck he wants with his life. A 7 year old with leukemia? Not so much.

    • Annyomous says:

Because as a society we love to protect the weak!!!!!

    • Preston says:

Personally I think the USA gives kids way too much emphasis as it is. I think society would be better as a whole if we didn’t care about kids when they were dying either.

What makes you think of “We as a society only caring about kids when they”re dying” when you read this. When i finished looking at this i just thought it was F-ing awesome.

  3. robbie messick says:

because it fucking sucks to die….dumb ass

  4. Anonymous says:

@Paul – Because their lives are so short they aren’t going to have the opportunity to have any greater experience than that.

  13. Dave Solo says:

Before all the insensitivity anons jumped on Paul it’s important to consider more about his observation, for society. (important to read into context)
At what point in a child’s life should we care?
As a society, are we being told when to flip that switch on and off?

Sure, this kid will most likely not experience life to its fullest in terms of time…
Yet a child with a lifetime of neglect can go into adulthood and become an internet anon poster. Think about how horrible that would be.

First comment is a total asshole. We all agree.

Yea you do this for everyone and it won’t be long before every liberal out there starts saying that the police department is brainwashing their children.
